Vermont Chicken, Turkey,
Game Birds

Vermont Quality Meats works with Misty Knoll Farms to offer naturally raised chicken and free range turkeys, and with Cavendish Game Birds to provide farm-raised jumbo quail. These family-owned, Vermont-based operations raise their birds with the utmost care, feeding them wholesome grains that are free of antibiotics and animal by-products. Both farms have on-site, inspected processing facilities. This reduces the stress on the birds and enables their experienced team of food processors to inspect each bird by hand so only the finest birds are offered for sale. Every week, Vermont Quality Meats delivers fresh poultry and game birds to restaurants, butcher shops and fine meat markets throughout New York and New England.

Naturally Raised Chickens

Delectable chicken dishes depend on succulent and flavorful birds. Misty Knoll Farms chickens roam freely in spacious, specially designed chicken houses with continuous access to abundant feed, water and fresh air—making for healthier, better tasting birds. Processed in a USDA approved onsite processing facility each week, the chickens range in weight from 3-5 lbs.

Free Range Turkeys

Misty Knoll Farms turkeys are started in their large brooder house and when capable of withstanding Vermont’s cool nights are moved out-of-doors to open barns with access to lush pasture, sunlight and whole feed and fresh water. Allowed to grow naturally to size, the turkeys are robust and meatier ranging in weight from 10-35 lbs.

Jumbo Quail

Owned by two brothers, Rick and Bill Thompson, Cavendish Game Birds operates a 75-acre farm where they maintain their breeding stock of Coturnix quail and a state-of-the-art hatchery that fills their barns with thousands of quail each week. Their quail, processed on-site, are meatier and up to 25% larger than most commercial quail. Whole quail weigh 6.5- 7 oz and semi-boneless quail are around 5 oz each.

Ring Neck Pheasant

Cavendish Game Birds also supplies Vermont Quality Meats with farm-raised pheasant that are raised in open flight pens under a natural cover of corn and sorghum. Whole pheasant roosters average 3 lbs and hens 2 lbs.

Other Game Birds

From time to time we also offer squab, guinea hens and Chukar Partridge.
